Dr. Mira Cole Williams began her teaching career at CDS when it first opened in 2006. She taught preschool, Kindergarten, 1st and 2nd grade, and even spent a year teaching middle school humanities at CDS before returning to complete her doctoral degree. Mira is a triple Wahoo, as she earned her B.S. in Psychology, Master’s in Teaching, and PhD in Curriculum, Instruction, and Special Education at the University of Virginia. During her doctoral program she served as an educational specialist at CDS, consulting with teachers and families focusing on differentiating instruction and providing curricular access to all children. She has spent the last 8 years of her career preparing future teachers at James Madison University. After earning tenure and promotion, Dr. Williams decided that, professionally, she wanted to work with teachers and families daily and is thrilled to return to CDS this year. Mira’s children, Leilah, Kai, and Nathaniel are also a part of the CDS family.
